With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, the Miaoli Detention Center has organized a series of family reunion activities, providing inmates the opportunity to connect with their families before the holiday. The first event was a phone reunion on September 4, allowing nearly 800 families to exchange well-wishes through phone calls. Through these heartfelt conversations, inmates and their families shared precious moments of reunion over the hotline.

Following this is the face-to-face visitation event for general inmates on Wednesday, September 11. A cotton candy machine will be set up at the event venue, allowing both adults and children to line up and receive cotton candy made on-site. On September 12, there will be a Mid-Autumn Festival face-to-face visitation event for elderly inmates. The event will start with a social worker demonstrating basic hygiene education and health concepts, followed by an anti-fraud briefing from correctional staff. The venue will showcase the planting achievements of elderly inmates who participated in the horticulture class. Families of the inmates will form teams to take part in a fun singing competition, creating a warm and lively atmosphere for the visitation event.

During a face-to-face family visit event, Miaoli Detention Center Director Lee,King-Teh distributed cotton candy to children of the inmates’ families and expressed his concern to both inmates and their families. He encouraged the inmates to cherish family bonds, use their connection with loved ones to inspire self-improvement, strengthen their resolve to reform, and work toward a smooth reintegration into society.
