To strengthen family support functions and assist inmates in maintaining strong family ties and enhancing family interaction, Miaoli Detention Center organized a series of family reunion activities on the eve of Mother's Day. These included face-to-face and phone reunions for both adult and juvenile inmates. The events concluded successfully in a warm and touching atmosphere.
The activities began on May 6 with a Mother's Day phone reunion, in which 663 inmates enthusiastically participated, using phone calls to express their longing and blessings to their families. On May 8 and 9, face-to-face reunion events were held separately for adult and juvenile inmates, with a total of 84 inmates and 167 family members attending, enjoying rare moments of reunion.
To enhance the atmosphere, Miaoli Detention Center specially invited artistic performances such as magic shows, face-changing acts, violin performances, and live singing, as well as anti-fraud awareness campaigns. These brought laughter and surprises to the venue, easing the emotional tension between inmates and their families who had not seen each other for a long time. For the juvenile reunion, a psychologist also facilitated family group interaction activities designed to help strengthen parent-child bonds and foster positive family support.
Warden Jiang Qinglong personally attended the reunion activities, presenting carnations to every mother and family member as a gesture of respect, and personally greeting each participating family to convey encouragement and blessings. Through these concrete actions, the detention center aims to convey humane care and warm support.
